Recent rapid growth of the e-transaction via the Internet is truly remarkable. It is now a vital part of our social infrastructure. The fingerprint recognition technology is also emerging in the cyber space. Even the physical access control is quickly being changed from the real space to the virtual space. Now, your cell phone can open doors, pay the parking charge, and perform financial transactions. We forsee the trend, and continue introducing new technological concepts to the biometric market.
■ Technoimagia has developed four web-based fingerprint authentication systems: FP-CHAP, FP-Auth, FP-ThinClient, and FP-SecureStation. ■ FP-CHAP (Challenge Handshale Authentication Protocol) performs fingerprint authentications for your web servers anywhere in the world, offering a application service provider (ASP) service through the Internet. An ASP service is now up and running by Media Place Co., Ltd. as FP-OTP (One Time Password). ■ First you need to enroll his/her fingerprint template to a fingerprint authentication server. You have a choice of fingerprint image scanners: FP-Plus or FP-Stick. The procedure is simple and takes only a few minutes. Once a template is enrolled, the log-on procedure is at your finger command. ■ FP-CHAP adopted a challenge-response authentication mechanism (CRAM) for better security. FP-CHAP uses fingerprint templates instead of conventional passwords for the CRAM scheme. When a client PC attempts to gain access to an web-based application or a web server, the web server requests an accompanied fingerprint authentication server to perform the challenge-response sequence with the client PC. Technoimagia is pending a U.S. Patent for this method. Click here for detailed Process Block Diagram for the sequence. ■ Our challenge-response sequence is sophisticated but, to a user, it appears to be not much different from a conventional password based scheme. Instead of entering a password, you will put your finger on a fingerprint image scanner. After a successful authentication, your PC is authorized to gain access to the web server. * Click here for more information. ■ FP-Auth performs fingerprint authentication for Solaris server systems. FP-Auth can offer ASP service as well. ・ Low cost to deploy for a large-scale server system
FP-SecureSation is Technoimagia's first web-based authentication system. It was developed for LINUX systems. The emphasis of the concept was the logical security contrast to the physical security which we implemented as FP-SecureGate. © Copyright 2005-2006 Technoimagia.
